Boleslawiec, Poland

When you move to Germany you hear a lot of people talking about Polish Pottery.  Of course I had no idea what they meant when I heard it mentioned and just dismissed the idea of ever taking a trip to go pottery shopping.  When I hear pottery I tend to think about the mug/kitchen decorations I made for my parents during summer camp...boy was I wrong!  So when one of my friends invited me to go on the MWR Polish Pottery trip; I thought why not I'm not going to buy anything but at least I can say I have been to Poland.

I was a newbie on the trip and I sat near ladies who had been to the area more then 5 times. I kept hearing people talk about their "patterns"--in the back of my mind I'm thinking these people must be crazy or obsessed or something--finding certain things that matched their "pattern."  Eventhough I heard the pottery was amazing and that you can get hooked on buying it I still was skeptical.

When we made the first stop me and my two girlfriends (all of us first timers) were admiring the area taking pictures while everyone else just shot off the bus and hit the shops.

The first couple of shops I just walked around and didn't see anything that caught my eye. Plus there are so many different designs (patterns) and tons of stuff all over these stores for a first-timer it can be a bit overwhelming.

Stores are stuffed with items floor to ceiling

Right when I walked in to the third store I saw a piece that caught my eye and I just couldn't walk away from it I was hooked.  After purchasing that piece all I kept talking about for the remainder of the trip was my "pattern" (by now everyone was joking with me b/c I was the one who kept saying that kind of stuff didn't matter).

The 1st purchase that changed it ALL!

Everyday household dishes that we love

Couldn't wait to test out my casserole dish

Bakes up wonderfully and such an easy clean

MUST TRY: We ate lunch at a restaurant right behind Henry's Pottery...so delicious! They give you extremely large portions (if we knew that we would have shared) and have good cocktails. Amazing prices also.

Loved this restaurant

HUGE portions: w/cocktail & coke only 11euro

MUST TRY: I purchased some Polish Honey Wine from "Zaxlady"-Polish Pottery House; my only regret is that I only bought 1 bottle because the hubby and I devoured it.  I'm not a big wine drinker but it was sooo good. I hope I can find some just like it somewhere here in Germany.

Delicious wine in a cute souvenir bottle

It was an amazing shopping trip and I purchased some great everyday kitchen items that we all love (and a few gifts). Hopefully I will have the time to go back again before we leave this area.
