ROAD TRIP!!!
My hubby and I have been talking about RVing for a few years now and we are constantly watching all of the RV shows on HGTV--you can say we are somewhat obsessed with this style of travel. After this trip my obsession has turned into a tangible reality--I LOVE RV TRAVEL!
For everyone out there wondering whether or not an RV trip is for you--All I can say is if you don't at least give it a try you are missing out. Below are just some of the practical reasons for RVing.
1) No Hotel/Vacation Rental Costs
Everything you need is already in the RV: tv, kitchen, living room, shower, beds, bathroom, etc.
2) No Coolers OR Fast Food Restaurants/Gas Station Junk Food Stops
The RV has a refrigerator that you can stock up with all of your favorite foods and cook and eat whatever you like. You don't have to spend $5 on a bag of gas station chips and no need to hope and pray that your cold items don't melt in the cooler stuffed in the back seat of your car.
3) No Wait On Bathroom Breaks
All of you parents know that when a 5 yr. old has to go they have to go! They don't care if the next rest area is 15 miles away or the town you are passing through looks a little "too shady" to pull over. In the RV they can go whenever they want--no stopping needed.
4) Unlimited Spontaneous Travel
If you want to stay an extra night in a beautiful location; do it! If you get to a city that looks a little sketchy for family fun; skip it! No hotel reservations to make or cancel--No plane tickets/flight itinerary to worry about.
THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON OF ALL IS GOOD OLE FAMILY FUN!!!
Taos, New Mexico
This was our very first stop in New Mexico; its about 3.5 hours from Colorado Springs. Its a very cute little town with several eclectic shops and restaurants. Of course since we visited during the fourth of July weekend the town was very busy (concerts, booths, food, etc).

We spent a couple of hours in Taos and then headed to our next destination.
Santa Fe, New Mexico
We arrived in Sante Fe around 5:30pm and stayed at a local RV Park, Los Suenos de Santa Fe, to hook up (electric, water, wifi, dumpsite) and spend the night. With this being our first RV trip I didn't really know what to expect when it came to RV parks. The park had a playground, pool, common areas, and it was very well kept. All of the people were so friendly--I was definitely loving the vibe!
Santa Fe had a huge 4th of July celebration in their downtown area. All of the downtown streets were blocked off from cars so people were everywhere. Their was a car show, local art vendors, food stands, army band, several local businesses were giving away tons of free items. It was so much fun and the people were so friendly.

Albuquerque, New Mexico
After enjoying Santa Fe's Independence Day Festivities we headed to Albuquerque; which is only an hour away; to catch their fireworks show at Fiesta Balloon Park. We arrived at the American RV Park late afternoon--which gave us time to have some lunch rest and head out.
FYI: The American RV Park was very nice also. It was extremely large with a pool, play ground, common area, laundry facilities, gift shop, convenience store, continental breakfast, and full hookups (water, sewer, wifi, cable).

Tingley Beach
We stopped here on Sunday morning before leaving Albuquerque so the little one could get a chance to fish. This beach (or man made lake) is perfect for little kids; and he truly enjoyed himself.
Trinidad Lake State Park
After enjoying ourselves fishing we hit the road to head back home. Immediately after crossing the New Mexico state line we decided to stop in Trinidad, Colorado. I'm so glad we did the Trinidad Lake State Park was so beautiful and peaceful. We were able to have a nice dinner (cooked inside the RV), enjoy the views, the playground, and a peaceful nights rest.

This trip was AMAZING and on the ride home we were already planning our next road trip. I can't wait for Labor Day!
