When I first moved to Germany I was in our hotel room looking through the Passport (military travel magazine) and I saw a trip scheduled to Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. I immediately recognized the city name from one of my favorite Queen Latifah movies 'Last Holiday.' I had no idea until I read the magazine where Karlovy Vary was located and that we had moved so close to access the city. I told myself that this is a place that I had to see in person-because I have seen it a million times on tv-before we leave Germany.
Healing Water Fountains
Everyone is always talking about the "healing water" in Karlovy Vary because the city is actually surrounded by hot springs. They sell cute souvenir ceramic cups to taste the water from all of the fountains throughout the city.
I personally thought the water tasted disgusting kind of like sulfur water (as you can tell from our facial experiences in the picture). So after my first taste at the first fountain I was done!! Everyone else seemed to keep tasting from all of the fountains so either we have drastically different taste buds from the rest of the world or people truly believe this water does have healing powers. Whatever the case my be for the reamainder of the trip was cup was used for wine.
Hotel Pupp
This is the grand hotel that Queen Latifah stayed at & the entire movie was filmed around. It really is a large hotel with a casino, clothing/shoe stores, several restaurants, etc--kind of like its own little mini city. They were doing construction on the main entrance of the hotel so we weren't able to see the beautiful ceiling in the lobby area (based on the movie "makes you want to cry").
